iFlash Touch: Update on rejection!
I have some good news to report! I was just contacted by someone at Apple over the phone, and we cleared up all the confusion that had surrounded the rejection of iFlash Touch.
The person from Apple made it clear to me: iFlash Touch was not rejected because it requires a companion desktop application (the person from Developer Technical Support was wrong about this). It was rejected because the reviewer downloaded the public version of iFlash for the Mac, which did not have support for iPhone exporting. I explained that to the person from Apple, and emphasized that the reviewer should download the unreleased iFlash 2.8 instead. He completely understood, tried it out himself over the phone, and assured me that it would get into the store.
Expect to see iFlash Touch available in the App Store for free within a week or two.
Thank you to everyone who offered me support. I am extremely grateful for all your awesome comments. It was because of you that this story got noticed and resolved.

Great news David, i’m sure the negative press helped expedite this and turn it into good newsfor you. now you’ve only got to sell a million copies and then retire!
WooHoo!
You the man Davey!
Fantastic. Isn’t it great that Apple are so efficient that they called you, approved the app, and now it will only take a mere “week or two” to make it into their database! :)
Can’t wait.
coljac: Well, it wasn’t officially “approved”, but from what I heard it won’t run into any more bumps during the official approval process. :)
WOO!! I have hope again!
Great news!! Makes my day.
Congrats! Your supporters are just as happy as you about this. Having been one of your Beta testers, I know the iFlash community will enjoy this release.
Have a beer mate, well done!
Congrats Davey, glad to hear it’s all worked out in the end. Hopefully it’ll be out in time for my trip to Japan so I can study easily while I’m there!
Now to wait, again!
I hope Apple follows through reasonably this time. Congratulations. Studying for medical school is always easier with iFlash…and iFlash Touch will make it that much easier.

I’m really looking forward to this. I’d like to second (well maybe a little late for that) the addition of audio. That is critical for my Bisayan studies and the main reason I use iFlash over others.

Great news Davey!!!
kafene: I know, right? This has been one roller coaster of a ride!
Great news! Looking forwardo to try it soon… :-)
This is great news! Can you make the update for the desktop version available before iFlash touch hits the AppStore?
I have a question: When can I download the new version of iflash that works with the iflash touch app? I’m so excited I want to be prepared so I can use it as soon as it’s released.
Thanks for all of your hard work!
Tim and Elizabeth: I’ll be releasing the update slightly earlier than when iFlash Touch is available in the App Store :-). I don’t want to release it too soon, since once it’s released many people will assume that iFlash Touch is available!
That being said, you can download it early from: http://www.loopware.com/iFlash_2.8.zip :-)
Fantastic!
yay! now I have the incentive to buy an ipod touch. thank you for all your hard work! おつかれさま。
-happy dance-
Come on Apple… anytime now… I could really use this App, like NOW.
Suddenly I’m feeling christmassy…
Very, very, very soon :-).
YouRe seriously seriously seriously tripping me out, this is like waiting for concert tickets! omg. . . !! ! ! ! !
@Davey
You tease! This is as bad as wanting it to be Christmas day already back when I was a kid.
I have a question. Is the only way to export to iphone over wifi? Or will I be able to export by connecting it via usb to my mac?
@Michael P.: I’m not the developer but what I know from the API, it is not possible for developers to use the Dock connector (via USB) for file transfer or anything at all (at least in 2.x — afaik it has changed in 3.0 but I guess that file transfer won’t still not be possible via the standard dock connector cable)
It’s out! Thanks Davey
Your request could not be completed “the item you have requested is not currently available in the US store”!!!
…It is like a Christmas where your best friend gets the toy you wanted…
Works for me :)

Are you in the US? I just tried it and got the same error.
I’m in Australia, might be sent out to different stores at different times?
available in Australia (I can even see it and click on “Get App”), but when entering my username I’m reconnected to the Swiss Store where its not yet available….
gosh: this is really like Robert said: “…It is like a Christmas where your best friend gets the toy you wanted…”….no even worse:
…It is like a Christmas where you get a parcel, you can open it, and then your told its not yours, but your best friends… :-p mat
Just wait then, can’t be long now! :)
Unless some employee working on the Australia store forced it through just long enough so they could download it or something, I notice Davey hasn’t made any announcements haha.
If you get it early, great! :-) The release date is set to tomorrow, so that’s when it’ll show up for the majority of people (including me!).
By the way Davey, I have to say, very nice job, greatly impressed :) feels very natural to use.
I sat down in front of the TV with it and crammed vocab while watching, it was perfect :D
I also get the error. :( Looking forward to when it is available though. Thank you so much for the hard work! I’m sure a lot of people really appreciate you making it so inexpensive. ;)
I’m a happy user of iFlash.
Hooray, just in time for summer classes!!!
Woo hoo! It finally made it to the US store…and at the price of…FREE?! Fan-freakin-tastic!! Downloading right now…
Thanks so very much!
:-)

it’s up!!! just downloaded it onto my iPhone! Thanks Davey! California user here if the timezone thing is happening as stated in previous posts.
Just downloaded it. It’s great!!
One question I have…is there a limit to the number of card decks you can upload? It starts replacing them instead of adding them.
Thank you so much for all of your hard work Davey!!
~Jessica
Hey Davey,
The software works great on the iPhone (I’m running 3.0b5), and the export feature is perfect. Everything is very well done…EXCEPT…I think there’s a tiny bug. I am using the New Practical Chinese Reader cards in the deck library. These cards have 3 sides (simplified character, pinyin and English). When I look at the cards on the iPhone, I can cycle between each side by tapping the small text at the bottom of the screen. The bug is that after it displays the 3rd side, tapping again takes me to the next card. There doesn’t appear to be a way to go back to the first view of the card. If I swipe to go back to the prior card, it just shows me the last view, and I still don’t see a way to cycle through that card view (if that makes sense).
Thanks!
–DotComCTO
Jessica: please email me about that problem. I’d like to look into it!
DotComCTO: this is how it’s supposed to work (so you can just keep tapping the bottom to go through everything). To go back up, swipe the card side downwards :-).
Where can I download iFlash?
Today is THE DAY!
