iFlash Touch: Update on rejection!

Loopware — Tags: — Davey @ May 6, 2009

I have some good news to report! I was just contacted by someone at Apple over the phone, and we cleared up all the confusion that had surrounded the rejection of iFlash Touch.

The person from Apple made it clear to me: iFlash Touch was not rejected because it requires a companion desktop application (the person from Developer Technical Support was wrong about this). It was rejected because the reviewer downloaded the public version of iFlash for the Mac, which did not have support for iPhone exporting. I explained that to the person from Apple, and emphasized that the reviewer should download the unreleased iFlash 2.8 instead. He completely understood, tried it out himself over the phone, and assured me that it would get into the store.

Expect to see iFlash Touch available in the App Store for free within a week or two.

Thank you to everyone who offered me support. I am extremely grateful for all your awesome comments. It was because of you that this story got noticed and resolved.

  43. Tim and Elizabeth: I’ll be releasing the update slightly earlier than when iFlash Touch is available in the App Store :-). I don’t want to release it too soon, since once it’s released many people will assume that iFlash Touch is available!

That being said, you can download it early from: http://www.loopware.com/iFlash_2.8.zip :-)

    Comment by Michael P. — May 14, 2009 @ 12:34 am
  53. @Michael P.: I’m not the developer but what I know from the API, it is not possible for developers to use the Dock connector (via USB) for file transfer or anything at all (at least in 2.x — afaik it has changed in 3.0 but I guess that file transfer won’t still not be possible via the standard dock connector cable)

Unless some employee working on the Australia store forced it through just long enough so they could download it or something, I notice Davey hasn’t made any announcements haha.

  67. Just downloaded it. It’s great!!

One question I have…is there a limit to the number of card decks you can upload? It starts replacing them instead of adding them.
Thank you so much for all of your hard work Davey!!

  68. Hey Davey,

The software works great on the iPhone (I’m running 3.0b5), and the export feature is perfect. Everything is very well done…EXCEPT…I think there’s a tiny bug. I am using the New Practical Chinese Reader cards in the deck library. These cards have 3 sides (simplified character, pinyin and English). When I look at the cards on the iPhone, I can cycle between each side by tapping the small text at the bottom of the screen. The bug is that after it displays the 3rd side, tapping again takes me to the next card. There doesn’t appear to be a way to go back to the first view of the card. If I swipe to go back to the prior card, it just shows me the last view, and I still don’t see a way to cycle through that card view (if that makes sense).

    Thanks!

  69. Jessica: please email me about that problem. I’d like to look into it!

DotComCTO: this is how it’s supposed to work (so you can just keep tapping the bottom to go through everything). To go back up, swipe the card side downwards :-).
